Summer Garden Party

03/08/03

We wound our way through the leafy paths of middle earth and arrived at the farmhouse of Laura & Colin. First sight of the farmhouse was inviting and so was the welcome from the hosts. As usual Laura and Colin made everyone feel welcome and I am sure the rest of the guests would like us to thank them for allowing people in their home, and the farm (see later).

As you can see the weather was beautiful and a lot of guests went home with red faces and not because of what was said. Some guests also went home with red noses - I wonder why.

Members relaxing trying to chill out before the onslaught of the big sell for the club raffle. This was very successful and most prizes were evenly spread across the group - I don't think anyone went home with what they brought. The raffle made about £75 for the club.

The food as usual was of the highest order and I think everyone enjoyed it. A lot of the food was made by Laura with help from Catherine and Kerry. As always there was not a lot  left by the end of the afternoon. Tables that had been groaning with food were a  lot lighter unlike the 35 attendees! A lively afternoon enjoyed by all. The sun shined all day for us, we could have been in Middle Earth or rural France but this Sunday in Kent was Precious!

A few more of the sights on the farm. The animals on the left are the prize Aberdeen Angus Laura and Colin are raising on the Farm. A number of guests went around the farm and I for one found it interesting to hear what "farmers" (Laura can I call you that). have to do. It really does open your eyes. All the animals looked in the peak of health and the cattery/buildings at Laura's  disposal are very impressive.
